Accreditation Services
Accreditation is a way of telling your patients that you care about quality. The Center for Medicare Services requires all freestanding imaging centers who are reimbursed under Medicare Part B to be accredited by an approved accrediting body by January 1, 2012 in order to continue to be reimbursed. NPC consultants are experts in helping our clients through the accreditation process. Currently the approved accrediting bodies are the American College of Radiology, The Joint Commission, and the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission.
Modalities considered “advanced imaging modalities” that fall under the requirement of MIPPA are:
- Nuclear Medicine
- Positron Emission Tomography
- Computed Tomography
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging
NPC also can assist with accreditation in:
- Mammography
- Stereotactic Breast Biopsy
- Ultrasound
Because of our extensive experience in assisting facilities with accreditation, NPC consultants are aware of many of the details and nuances related to the accreditation process. One of our consultants serves as a reviewer for the American College of Radiology. An NPC consultant assisting you with your accreditation can make the process go smoothly and easily.
NPC consultants also can scan the required phantoms, work with your QC technologist to set up the required QC program, and provide year-round support. We also would conduct annual QC surveys, QC record audits, and offer suggestions on how to improve image quality and patient safety.
If you are seeking mammography or MRI accreditation, NPC has an added advantage. One of our consultants is also a reviewer for these two ACR accreditation programs. He has received specialized training by the ACR to score the phantom images of facilities seeking accreditation. If anyone can tell you if your images will pass, he can!
